Mark Romeo (2014)

2002 Wrestling Mark Romeo carved out Ridgewood High School's first 100-win career in varsity wrestling at a time when there were fewer matches each season in which to compete compared to today. The four-year starter,who competed in the lower weights and never missed any appreciable time due to injury, finished with a record of 108-16. His win mark stood as the standard at Ridgewood High School until Brandon Giovanetti surpassed it in 2012 with 110 victories. This past season, 2014 graduate Joe Oliva became the Maroons' win kingpin, finishing his four-year career with 135 victories against 22 losses. When Romeo competed, there were no wrestle back rounds in the county, district, region or state tournaments. Mark Romeo was a 2001 Bergen County champion after having placed second his junior year and third his sophomore year. He was the first Ridgewood wrestler to win a county title since 1984. Mark was a three-time District 5 champion (1999, 2001, 2002), the first Ridgewood wrestler to win three district titles, and a 2002 Region 2 champion, becoming only the third Ridgewood wrestler since 1965 to win a region title. He was also a four-time Mahwah High School Tournament champion, only the fourth wrestler to accomplish the feat in 36 years, and was twice named Most Outstanding Wrestler of the season-opening competition in December, receiving that recognition in 2001-02. In 1998, he became the first Ridgewood wrestler to win a Bergen County Freshman Tournament championship. His senior year, Mark was named first team All-County and All-North Jersey Group 4 and second team All-North Jersey. He was named first team All-Suburban in The Ridgewood News three times, and, in 2000, he was the All-Suburban Sophomore of the Year. He was named first team All-League in 2001 and 2002 and second team All-League his first two seasons. Three times, he made honorable mention All-County. At the end of his career, Mark held the school records for most wins in a season (34) and a career (108), most pins (70) in a career and best winning percentage for a season (94%) and a career (87%). Mark served as a team captain his senior year, and, for his last three seasons; he was named the team's Most Valuable Wrestler and recorded the most pins. Mark wrestled varsity at Trinity College for two seasons, earning two letters and finishing in the top five both years in the New England Wrestling Tournament. Today Mark has entered the corporate world and wrestles with business decisions from his home base in London England. Whether home or abroad Mark Romeo will always be a standard that other RHS athletes and students can look to as a beacon of inspiration as a member of the Ridgewood High School Athletic Hall of Fame's Class of 2014.

Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Anne Catherine Robinson '77 Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Dr. Anne Catherine Robinson '77 The Ridgewood High School Alumni Association is honored to posthumously recognize Dr. Anne Catherine Robinson, Class of 1977, for her lifelong commitment to children and families, her leadership in advancing student wellness, and her dedication to preserving Ridgewood High School history through the RHS Arrow Project. Anne will be inducted as a member of the Distinguished Alumni Class of 2027 as her classmates celebrate their 50th Reunion. Dr. Anne Catherine Robinson (1977) Dr. Anne Catherine Robinson, Ridgewood High School Class of 1977, devoted her life to improving the health, wellbeing, and educational experience of children and families. After graduating from Ridgewood High School and attending Wesleyan University, where she met her husband Dennis, she earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and completed her residency in pediatrics at Dallas Children's Hospital before returning to Ridgewood, where she practiced medicine and became a tireless advocate for students. For more than fifteen years, Anne was a leading voice for student health in Ridgewood and throughout New Jersey. As a member of the New Jersey American Academy of Pediatrics Task Force on Adolescent Sleep and School Start Time and Vice Chair of the Health Advisory Board at WholeHealthED, she helped advance initiatives that led Ridgewood and school districts across the state to adopt later school start times, placing student wellbeing at the center of educational policy. Anne also played an instrumental role in preserving Ridgewood High School history through the RHS Arrow Project, an ambitious effort that digitized every RHS yearbook dating back to 1898, creating an enduring resource for alumni, students, and the broader Ridgewood community.  Anne and Dennis shared a remarkable 45-year marriage and raised their three children, Emily, Michael, and Catherine, in Ridgewood. Richard Chilton (1976)

Richard Lockwood Chilton, Jr. is the founder, Chairman and CEO of Chilton Investment Company. Since founding Chilton Investment Company with his Flagship Strategy in 1992, Mr. Chilton has built a broad organization and a team of investment professionals focused on long term capital growth. The Chilton Flagship Strategy has generated impressive and consistent returns with moderate volatility since inception. In addition, in 2010 Mr. Chilton founded Chilton Trust Company which is a nationally chartered broad-based wealth management trust company focusing on services to high-net-worth individuals and families. Mr. Chilton is vice chairman of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, trustee emeritus of the Robin Hood Foundation, chairman emeritus of Greenwich Academy, trustee of the Richard Hampton Jenrette Foundation and trustee of the Yale Berkeley Divinity School. Prior to forming Chilton Investment Company, Mr. Chilton was a managing director at Allen Value Incorporated and a vice president and equity portfolio manager at Alliance Capital Management Corporation. Mr. Chilton began his career in the Mergers and Acquisitions group at Merrill Lynch and Company and received his B.S. in Finance & Economics from Alfred University. 

Medha Kirtane (1996)

Medha Kirtane, Ridgewood High School Class of 1996, is a distinguished educator and lifelong advocate for inclusive public education. She earned her B.A. from Williams College and a M.Ed. from Harvard Graduate School of Education. In 2023, Kirtane received the Ashby Award, the highest honor Ridgewood Public Schools can bestow on a faculty or staff member. In 2021, Kirtane was named New Jersey History Teacher of the Year, an award presented annually by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the nation’s leading organization dedicated to K-12 American history education. She has also received the Merrill Presidential Scholar Secondary Teacher Award from Cornell University (2026), University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award (2018), British University Summer School Fellowship to Oxford University (2015), Princeton University Distinguished Teacher Award (2012) and Excellence in Teaching Award from Carleton College (2009). Teaching grants from the National Endowment of the Humanities and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and her esteemed colleagues have informed her teaching of U.S. History, Law and Senior Seminar at RHS. As the former Head Coach of the Girls Tennis Program for a decade, Kirtane saw the team to four North I Group IV State Sectional Championships, was inducted into the “Century Club” for 100-plus wins and earned recognition as “Coach of the Year” in the County, League and Division.  Kirtane has also been the Faculty Advisory to numerous school clubs including the Asian Festival at Ridgewood, a role she was honored to carry forward after participating as a student when at R.H.S. Her greatest honor has been learning beside her students and watching them engage in compassionate action to better the world around them.
