Medha Kirtane (1996)
Medha Kirtane, Ridgewood High School Class of 1996, is a distinguished educator and lifelong advocate for inclusive public education. She earned her undergraduate degree from Williams College and a master's degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. After serving as assistant director of the Williams Multicultural Center, she returned to Ridgewood in 2007 to join the Ridgewood High School Social Studies Department, where she teaches United States history, senior seminars, and law.
Throughout her career, Medha has been recognized for her commitment to her students, her school, and the broader community. She is known as a rigorous but fair teacher who challenges students to think critically while modeling kindness, integrity, and intellectual curiosity. Her work extends beyond the classroom through mentoring and coaching, helping students grow into engaged and thoughtful citizens.
She has also advanced Asian American Pacific Islander history education in New Jersey public schools.
